Apple Products Are Friendlier to the Environment

On Apple's Technical Specifications pages you will find a box like this one. Their new product line boasts arsenic-free glass, BFR-free, mercury-free, PVC-free and highly recyclable components.

A bromine-based flame retardant. Its vapors are corrosive and toxic. Highly resistant to degradation in the environment and able to bioaccumulate (build up in animals and humans), (http://images.apple.com/nz/environment/faq.html).

Also know as vinyl, it is highly unstable and toxic both during its production and life cycles. It releases mercury, dioxins, and phthalates, known toxins and carcinogens.

These materials, along with arsenic and mercury are no longer being used in the manufacturing of Apple products. Read Apple's Environment FAQ page here
